Affiliate marketing is a very large industry and has become a key source of online income for many thousands of professional bloggers. With more and more online businesses becoming involved in affiliate marketing, more opportunities have arisen for bloggers, like you and I, to make money with their blog. and to ultimately create passive income streams.
This is actually very easy to organize from an infrastructure perspective. If you use a service designed to help you sell using affiliates, you can manage the whole process end to end with no real technical set up. If you are selling through ClickBank it’s very easy, or through Infusionsoft or 1ShoppingCart, the services have been created to make it very easy to get set up so that people can become your partner in affiliate marketing. You just give them a link, they put this link on their site, in their email, or in any other promotional thing they want to do (tweets and blog comments are other examples). Then, when somebody clicks on that link and comes to your website and they buy your product, it’s automatically recorded as that person being the affiliate who drove the sale. This is all tracked, so you can easily monitor how effective your affiliates are at selling for you, and organize commission payments.

URL masking: Often, you’ll find that affiliate links are a real, million character eyesore. It’s likely that your links will look like Merchant.com/dlfjlfjlfjdskljdfgimmeallyourmoneyalajdlkaf2131032klfjfdjldsjf. And let’s be honest, few people are going to want to click on that. URL masking is therefore when you create a prettier, cleaner “vanity URL” that makes your links more clickable. Some people use bit.ly, which has tracking purposes, or the WordPress Plugin Pretty Link.
If you have a product you want to launch and sell online, affiliate marketing is certainly a great way to start doing it. Whether you choose to have this as your sole route to market or combine it with other marketing activities of your own will depend on your own skills and business model, but it is definitely a pain free way to tap into markets and get your product noticed.
There are a lot of affiliate programs to choose from, but I encourage you to start your search by checking out ClickBank or Amazon Associates, as they have a lot of amazing affiliate programs for digital products. When you join an affiliate program, you will get an affiliate link, so that the person who is selling the product or service can track which sales were produced by you.
Well, WA keep coming up and its FREE, so I think that I have found where I want to start. My one thing is that everyone seems to say that they will be your mentor just so you sign up and then eventually go Premium. Because we all know that is where you get the bigger lay out. Which is not a bad deal at all. But I’m one that likes to have that type of guidance from one person instead of reaching out to 100 and having no clue which persons advice I should take. It seems like I should just try to find someone I think that I can click with and hope for the best???
Organic traffic pointed at a website is incredibly powerful. Google puts a LOT of faith in the organic results, and so do consumers. Plus, having your own site gives you the ability to do things like build an email list, which you can use to recommend all sorts of products once your subscribers learn to trust you. That opens you up to more opportunities. The same goes with building a social media following.
For example, this page you’re currently on right now is specifically created to show up in search results when people search for “how to start an affiliate marketing blog.” by doing keyword research, I was able to see that people often type this into Google. I’ll show you how to write content to rank for specific search phrases a bit later, but for right now, you just want to make a giant list of these keywords so that you have article ideas that will last you months.
You can research what affiliate programs are already out there and try to compete with their commission rate. Try to get listed in affiliate marketplaces like ShareASale or CJ. I don’t have experience actually running an affiliate program but I personally look for good commissions and a company with a solid reputation with products that can actually help my readers. Make a list of relevant websites/influences that fall within that criteria and reach out to them about your affiliate program. I know it’s broad advice but that’s why I see other companies do – they often have affiliate managers that are constantly working on business development.
A means of distribution is critical, which should be obvious since you can’t sell something when you don’t have an audience to sell it to. For most people distribution is a combination of your existing audience on your email list, who read your blog and subscribes to your RSS feed, your Facebook and Twitter followers, and any other people you can directly contact who are actively listening to your messages and are targeted to your offer.
It is important to note, however, that StudioPress is now a subsidiary of WPEngine which is the company that actually does the web hosting on which StudioPress’s Genesis framework runs. The affiliate program only works with choosing the StudioPress framework and themes, not the actual hosting on WPEngine. WPEngine has a separate affiliate program for its hosting services, which yes, is a bit confusing.
On the other hand: the main reason of bankruptcy for small businesses is bad financial management. Simply said: to forget to make invoices, not checking the payments and not following bad payers. 1 out of 3 is going bankrupt for this reason alone. I had to learn it myself. I spend at least 10% of my time with financial stuff. I don’t love it but the bills get payed ;-)

If you’re in the WordPress industry like I am (whether it be design, development, or SEO) I have accumulated quite the list of WordPress affiliate programs. I excluded those I found unsuccessful or pay too little to make a profit from, specifically ThemeForest, Creative Market, and low quality theme stores like Template Monster. Hosting pays well and I wrote a tutorial for SiteGround’s affiliate program and StudioPress themes which are my 2 highest paying affiliates. Those tutorials have tons of screenshots/social proof especially for SiteGround.

Target 1-2 Keywords Per Article – until you can successfully rank for 1 keyword for an article, don’t try targeting 2. Once you get the hang of it and are ready to write an article around 2, choose a secondary keyword that is a synonym of your primary keyword. An example would be “Slow WordPress Site” and “Why Is WordPress Slow.” Then craft your article title/SEO title/meta description to mention individual words of each – while making them read nicely.
The tips mentioned above covers the bulk about how profitable affiliate sites are set up nowadays. If you’re familiar with building sites and a bit of SEO, then this affiliate marketing guide should put you on the right path. However, if you want a more comprehensive guide to affiliate marketing, then you will need more than just free resources online to get a website up and running.

Boiling Point Media was founded by filmmakers with the principle of bringing together a variety of outstanding talent and creating an environment for them to flourish, achieve, and grow. The team started small, a little over 10 years ago, producing local commercials. Our clientele and reputation quickly grew as a result of our dedication to hard work, exceptional quality, and on-time results. We began expanding our services to help support the ever-growing independent film market by offering a multitude of different services utilizing the decades of experience our staff brings to the table.

With most businesses, there are other business owners. There are different individuals that are working with similar products. Why work with your own innovation? Instead, find a spin on what you are interested in and use this to add value to others’ lives. You will find that there are different approaches that provide even more opportunities to make money… without the startup headache.
Previously known as Affiliate Window but now officially referred to as “AWIN” after acquiring Zanox a few years ago, this network claims to work with over 13,000 active advertisers and 100,000 publishers (affiliates). Founded in Germany, AWIN’s merchants primarily hail from Europe (especially Great Britain) although the U.S. network is growing rapidly. AWIN is currently active in 11 countries.
These are the hardest affiliates to get on board, but also potentially the most lucrative. Affiliates with large email lists have a wide range of customers that they can promote offers to. It stands to reason that many of your top e-mail affiliates will be your competitors, such as other product vendors. These guys have a customer list of their own, and may be interested in promoting your offer to their list.

If your offer converts, recruiting affiliates will be a piece of cake. Any affiliates you bring on board will make money and continue promoting you. Their efforts will quickly pull in many new affiliates, and so on – its a virtuous cycle. Your offer will go viral if your conversions are high, as other affiliates start to see what their competitors are promoting.
Hey Cliff, building a successful, informative blog is a whole (massive) topic to tackle in itself 🙂 My tips here are more meant for beginner/intermediate bloggers who are seeking to monetize their existing blogs through affiliate marketing. if you’re looking for blogging advice though, there’s plenty on the Blogging section of my site here: https://happytowander.com/category/blogging/ Hope that helps!

Fill your website with content that will be useful to the people who are interested in your niche, and place your affiliate links throughout in the most relevant places. That way when someone interested in your content clicks your link, they go to a sales page for a product that they might also be interested in, and if they buy it you get a commission!

SEO for organic search: Search engine optimization (SEO) is a marketing tactic in its own right. Good SEO helps you craft post content targeting specific terms, called keywords, to rank high in the search results in Google and other search engines. This is something to understand and implement early to make the most of your content from day one. SEO is also why a narrow niche focus is best for most affiliate marketers. Targeting niche-specific keywords help you rank high in search results and be found by readers interested in your niche.

Tradedoubler was founded in 1999 by two young Swedish entrepreneurs. They have offices in the UK and multiple countries throughout Europe, including Sweden, Germany, France, Poland and Spain. Their focus has always been to provide smarter results for both clients and affiliates through technology. In 18 years, they’ve amassed an army of 180,000 active publishers, connecting them to over 2,000 merchants in Europe and the UK. Many of these merchants are household names.
What I recommend is to be very specific and go after what would be called a “micro-niche”, but give yourself room to expand later on. For instance, when I’m first starting, I might make my car website about a specific year of the Ford Mustang, like the 1969 Ford Mustang. It could take me months to create content just about the 1969 Ford Mustang, but eventually, I’d likely want to expand the site to include additional models and years.

The key to becoming a successful affiliate is conducting a bit of research before you sink time (and maybe money) into a campaign. Think what it would be like if you built a resort full of all of the trimmings: crisp white towels, Egyptian cotton sheets, 10 pools, a 5-star restaurant, and flawlessly beautiful architecture... But it's on the moon and there are no people, so you can't profit from your efforts.
JVZoo works exclusively with digital products, primarily e-commerce, online courses, and internet marketing offers. Because there are no limits placed on the number of links, buy buttons, or calls to action on a website, JVZoo can sometimes be somewhat low quality both in terms of offers as well as products. Nonetheless, it has proven itself to be a fierce competitor to companies like ClickBank.
Only promoting low-ticket items means limiting the amount of money earned. Only promoting high-ticket offers means alienating subscribers who can’t afford them. But promoting one of each type of offer every month produces the best results. When looking for the best affiliate offers, it is necessary to get as much data as possible. Does the product sell well? Is the commission good?
888.com is a premium gaming destination and a well established name in the casino and poker circuit. Its site offers numerous sub-brands including 888sport, 888ladies, 888bingo, 888casino and 888poker, as well as ReefClub Casino. The 888 family of companies attract millions of players, and the company provides affiliates with frequent promotions to keep players interested.
If the reason why you’re looking at how to start affiliate marketing isn’t purely monetary, then this might actually be a great way of getting started. A lot of companies (especially smaller ones), when they are starting to work with smaller or lesser-known affiliates, like to send them items for reviews and promotions. This way, the company will be able to check if the affiliate is worth working with long-term, and the person doing the promotion will be able to practice and acquire free stuff.
I would personally agree with linkshare.com as a great affiliate marketing platform to join as a publisher. Here’s why. Back in 2005 when I knew nothing about affiliate marketing and was using blogger.com as a free blogging platform without any experience whatsoever and joining Walmart.com as my first official affiliate program, I was able to insert Walmart affiliate in its in my blogger blog and earn a $72 commission. I was onto affiliate marketing for life from there.
As Target is the second-largest general retailer in the United States, their affiliate program is primarily for American bloggers or publishers who can route visitors to relevant products. Overall, the program works much like Amazon’s does in that publishers (bloggers) get a small commission on sales, but Target’s gigantic product base (over one million items) and high brand recognition make their affiliate program a great option for influencers.

The main reason why you would want to sell through affiliates is that it gives you a route in to other people’s customers. People who are already doing well at selling other things and have established relationships with their own contacts will, if your product fits in with their own business and they are happy with the commission structure you’re offering, be happy to push your product to audiences you would otherwise be unable to tap. It also gives you a chance to leverage other people’s skills. Many top affiliate marketers make their money by having a very good understanding of search engine optimization and bringing high volumes of traffic in to their websites. If your products are advertised on these high volume sites you are bound to convert some business (assuming the sites are relevant and your products are good). By paying commission to an affiliate rather than buying ad space to get your products marketed on sites like this, you are only paying on sales made, so it is a pretty safe way to promote yourself.

Customers and workers are the first persons to believe in your product. They do not require as much convincing as strangers to market your product. It also gives them an opportunity to extend your relationship and make it more profitable. They trust you and are willing to go full throttle into marketing. They are also more patient with you. Take advantage of your networks to promote your program until it gets on its feet.
Finally, understand that affiliate recruitment is a numbers game. Look at it as a process rather than an “end game.” You’re looking to build gradual momentum, get your offer out there, and if it converts, the viral power of the Internet will do the rest. A high-converting offer only needs a little push before it gathers traction. So get to work – and build that initial buzz yourself!
2. If I would like to take care only of research, building and entertaining the design of the website, design banners etc for promoting the products via social media, ... and managing the business, ... but not doing anything regarding content, newsletters, articles (just hire people to do it for me) do you think is worth trying to become an affiliate marketer? And if yes than what budget do you think I need monthly?
Tracking your revenue and monetizing more. Seeing the results with every goal you set is not only important because you see the bank numbers go up. It’s also effective because you have the ability to see how much you are making and how much more you can make. For instance, if you just started and are making $1,000 a month, look at the steps above to see how you can double the results. You may find that there are several ways to improve your monetization and get results.
I have yet to implement all the tools you have shared and recommended in this article, but I really like the way you explain things. It is written in a very easy-to-read style, and ho hype or exaggerated comments. Now I have to get busy and take the necessary time to study, and implement, your recommendations. Thank you for all that you have shared.
It’s a little silly how often people overlook this step. The simple math is, if you have more eyeballs on your affiliate links, the more likely you’ll make sales. Sure, that’s a bit of an oversimplification buuuut it still holds true that you should be trying to gain traffic on these posts anyway. So, remember the importance of promotion! It’s not enough to just write killer affiliate posts.
Hey. Yes you can use just one website to promote multiple affiliate programs, but I’d say that your website should focus on just one niche. So you mention, SellHealth, that would lead me to believe your site is about health and fitness. I would then advise you to stick to that niche rather than promoting unrelated products like dog leashes and fashion accessories.
StudioPress is a WordPress hosting service and framework that is designed to make setting up and running a WordPress site much simpler and easier. StudioPress comes with its own unique themes and SEO tools, collectively known as the “Genesis framework.”. Their affiliate program is solely for referrals to pay for a StudioPress framework account or buying a StudioPress theme. Previously, the affiliate program also included web hosting, but this is now managed separately by StudioPress’s owner, WPEngine.

Don’t set a goal to write 3 blog posts a day… set a goal to write 1 blog post a week and make that post super helpful, long, and filled with information that is so valuable you will say “yeah, people will link to that.” 90% of my traffic/affiliate income comes from just 20 tutorials, many of which are 5+ years old. But I am constantly updating them to make the content better.
It seems nowadays many bloggers are obsessed with this monetization stream, clamouring to find out how they, too, can make money off blogging through affiliate sales. This popularity has led to one very negative consequence: information overload, and not enough answers. After a few email exchanges, I realized some newbies were petrified of asking basic questions… in fear of sounding dumb.

For example, the content on Super Weddings is useful whether you're organizing a wedding today or next year. All the content on the site is created accordingly. To make things easier for the audience, it is separated into categories to make it very convenient for the reader to find what they're looking for. This, of course, is also very good for SEO.

If you work hard, you can confidently execute all the variables under your control. You might even have a fat list or huge blog readership already established to market to, but if you’re just selling to the same people it can be difficult to grow your business quickly (you can certainly improve your average customer value though). That’s okay of course, you can make great money selling to your existing prospects and customers, and there are ways to grow profits quickly using your existing audience, but if you don’t have much of an existing audience, affiliates you get there much quicker.
Affiliate marketing is a profitable online money making method. But it need few month even year to get success. If you work in a proper ways, you can easily get success. Follow my instruction above and start affiliate marketing today. If you have any query just contact me on Skype or email, I will help you from my best. If you really enjoy this article, Please share to your friends below.

Remember that keyword research we performed earlier? You should have a list of at least 100 keywords. It’s now time to start writing as many articles as you sanely can. If you do this consistently for several months, your efforts will begin to pay off. Most new affiliate marketers get burned out quickly and don’t keep at it, but those who do are rewarded. You have to make it past the point where most people fail.
When you’ve chosen a niche, now it’s time to find out the best and profitable products and marketplace where you will find your niche targeted products. To choose better affiliate program or marketplace, you should consider the following things: availability of your niche related products, how much commission they will provide, what type of offers are over there like pay per sale, pay per click, pay per lead, pay per impression etc. There are mainly two types of affiliate products: physical product and digital product. For physical product amazon, shareasale, cj etc are better. And for digital product clickbank, jvzoo is better. For CPA offers AdWork Media, ProLeadsMedia, AdsMain, AdGate Media, Envyus Media, CPATrend, MaxBounty, GlobalWide Media, FurtherMobi, NAMoffers, Adscend Media, Axon Media Group, Ultra Pay, PeerFly, CPAGrip, Adludum etc are better.

Theme – you don’t need a special theme for affiliate marketing, you probably just need a blog. I recommend StudioPress themes since that’s what Yoast, Matt Cutts (from Google), and I use. Matt Mullenweg, founder of WordPress also recommends them. One of the biggest mistakes I made was using a theme from Themeforest… since they’re built by independent developers who may stop making updates to their theme. This happened to me and I hear horror stories all the time about people having to switch themes and redesign their entire site. I’ve been using the same StudioPress theme (Outreach Pro) for 3 years. Their themes are lightweight (load fast), SEO-friendly via optimized code, secure, and they have a huge selection of plugins for the Genesis Framework and an awesome community in the Genesis WordPress Facebook Group. They include documentation for setting it up and will serve you for many, many years.
Publish a book or report and make it a hit. Writing a book today is easier than ever before and thus the mantle of “published author”, while definitely a credibility boost, is not as big a deal as it once was. Creating a free report is even easier. However, if your publication becomes a hit, if it dominates the conversation in your market for a period of time, or redefines how people look at an issue, or is referred to as fundamental study, then you’ve gained a reputation that can last a lifetime.

The affiliate companies you’ll be signing up with have powerful website creation tools that can get you up and running in no time, although a big part of the reason it can set up so fast is because it’s based heavily on some basic templates. As such, while you can move things around and change the icons and images to emphasize your chosen interest, you may still feel like the website has a certain generic quality to it. That may not bother you at all, but it’s something you’re free to change if you know html code. Learning how to start affiliate marketing also means learning how to build a website.

If you find a niche that is highly competitive, then it will be difficult to grow. If you find different products that are saturated, then you will also find yourself fighting to stay on top. If you find something that you like but no one else is interested in it, then you will find yourself convincing others to find the value in something they are not interested in.
Capture a following and prove that you can move people to action. I know plenty of bloggers who appear on the surface to be significant players, speaking at events, maybe even publishing books and showing nice email subscriber, RSS and Twitter numbers, yet when push comes to shove – when it was time to deliver and demonstrate a result – they had very little power to actually move their audience to action. It’s great to have people who pay attention to your stuff, but if a significant proportion of them don’t respond to calls to action, then you can’t make an impression that counts.
I am not yet ready for a launch but the information in this post confirms much of what I was aware or and introduced a point or two that I did not. Based on where I am right now in my online marketing career I know that I still need to build on experience, improve results, develop a good rep ………… and make some money in affiliate marketing. Just doing a blog for a year I understand the value of putting shoulder to the grindstone and making it move.
Sometimes, individual entrepreneurs with great products are worth a look, although you should check them out first and do some research. Entrepreneurs or companies may run their own affiliate program and you can apply directly to them to promote their products and services. Finally, Amazon is always an option as you can be an affiliate for just about any type of physical product on their network.
StudioPress itself is somewhat of a niche product as it is targeted to existing WordPress users who found setting up and managing a WordPress site too difficult or time-consuming. StudioPress prides itself on being easy to use, but their main claim to fame is that their hosted websites are “faster and more secure” than other WordPress hosting companies as well as using the “Genesis framework” which is supposedly more SEO friendly than other WordPress builds.
The ClickBank Marketplace will introduce your new site to a potential network of hundreds of thousands of affiliates. Second, the fact that all payments are handled by ClickBank ensures you have instant trust with affiliates. ClickBank have paid out billions to vendors and affiliates – so your affiliates know they will be paid on time, which is important since you don’t have any reputation right now. In short, listing your product with ClickBank gives you a firm platform to recruit affiliates from. You may well even attract affiliates passively before you start work.

I found the course extremely helpful especially as i am a beginner. Lisa is excellent at explaining which is important when you are starting out. She has made me understand the importance of finding the right niche and that to me is where most of us go wrong. I am extremely grateful for a course like this and would like to take this opportunity to thank you Lisa for creating a course that helps others! – Michelle

WARNING: Amazon doesn’t take kindly to cloaking affiliate links, if you do and they find out, it can result in expulsion from their affiliate program. Make sure you’re making use of the Uncloaking feature in our plugin ThirstyAffiliates which lets you track and manage all your Amazon affiliate links, but still satisfy their program’s stricter terms of service surrounding link cloaking.

The benefits of affiliate marketing are in the details of the program. However, like every other catch, potential marketers need a bait to get them into your system. This could be free training, a doubled commission for the first month, higher starting commission, etc. It could even be a gift for the first sale the affiliate makes. This creates an impression of a generous partner who appreciates effort. Once the marketer tastes value from your program, he will be willing to look for more benefits.
This is a marketing endeavor where you inform networkers to your program. Make offers to them for promoting your affiliate program. Link with websites that offer related products and services with the aim of connecting with people running affiliate programs on them. Send invitations to these marketers and make attractive offers. You should also employ marketers to promote your affiliate program. You will be amazed at the results this approach will give to your program. It helps to have a deliberate and personalized offer.
Writing product reviews are an excellent way to enhance your credibility as an affiliate marketer. This is especially easy with information products like e-books which are relatively inexpensive. After establishing some steady income it may even be worth buying higher-end products, provided you get in touch with the product creator to work out a strategic marketing plan that takes you to the next level.
