JVZoo was founded in 2011 and has since rocketed to near the top as one of the most popular affiliate programs out there. JVZoo is unusual in that there are no upfront costs for either publishers or merchants (advertisers). JVZoo’s income is exclusively from charging fees (to both the merchant and the affiliate) after a sale has been made. It is also unusual in that it pays commissions “instantly” via PayPal rather than once a week/fortnight/month like other affiliate programs.
Hi, Jamie! Very good list. I needed something like this for 2018 so that I know what to target in the future blogs I create. As for now, I’m comfortable using SiteGround affiliate network and it’s pretty good actually. Their hosting service is pretty much the best considered its price. I’ve tried others but SiteGround stands out. I’ll also try new affiliate networks, something from the list you have just provided. I think Amazon is too saturated at the moment, and I need a better network. 2018 will be interesting indeed.
Affiliate marketing pulls together marketers who want to advertise and publishers, sometimes called influencers, who want to promote products and services and get paid to do so. Publishers place customized links to things they want to promote within their website or social media content. Then, they get a portion of the sales as a thank you for their promotion.

So – you’re fed up with your 9-to-5 day job and are ready to become the next great entrepreneur. Awesome – the world needs more great minds! You quit your job, curl up in bed and are ready for business – you’ve heard that affiliate marketing is the way to go! You take your laptop, open up the web and… remember that you don’t really know how to start affiliate marketing.
I built several small sites that only sell ‘small’ items for sale on Amazon. Typically $4/$5 an item, and items that are usually bought in bulk. Painting supplies, for instance. I then take out a small Facebook ad at the start of the month promoting that site. Usually 2 or 3 orders of multiple products is enough to send my commision percentage up, then it’ll stay that way until the end of the month. Hope that helps someone. 🙂
The affiliate companies you’ll be signing up with have powerful website creation tools that can get you up and running in no time, although a big part of the reason it can set up so fast is because it’s based heavily on some basic templates. As such, while you can move things around and change the icons and images to emphasize your chosen interest, you may still feel like the website has a certain generic quality to it. That may not bother you at all, but it’s something you’re free to change if you know html code. Learning how to start affiliate marketing also means learning how to build a website.
SEO – I have a full guide on YouTube SEO. You’ll basically want to research a video keyword in YouTube’s Autocomplete dropdown, then craft your video title/description to include your keyword. Write a long description and embed it on your blog to get more views. Create a nice custom thumbnail and make your videos long and thorough, just like your blog posts should be.
No, this didn’t happen overnight. Yes, I was broke for a couple years while creating content. But it literally changed my life… I moved out of my parent’s house (sigh) into a nice studio in downtown Denver, bought my first car (a Mercedes c300), adopted 2 kitties, and my credit raised 45 points. I also donated $6,000 to GoFundMe campaigns. I’m a humble dude but in affiliate marketing, the numbers do the talking. So, I want to show you how I did it. Enjoy :)
Banner and sidebar ads: Virtually every affiliate program provides a wide variety of ads that you can insert into the sidebars, header and footer sections of your WordPress website. Some of these affiliate ads promote a flat-fee product like the Amazon Prime free trial. Others automatically update with features products and items from your affiliate partner. Either way, if your reader clicks on one and makes a purchase, you get paid.
ps. collecting these Facebook polls is one of the main reasons I was able to get so many SiteGround sales. Yes, I’m suggesting SiteGround for your host, but this is also a strategy that can be used to collect unbiased reviews. Just go to Facebook and search “SiteGround poll” and you can dig up some great stuff – you can do this with lots of affiliate products. Many Facebook Groups are closed (as well as their posts), so you will need to join them to see their content.
The main reason why you would want to sell through affiliates is that it gives you a route in to other people’s customers. People who are already doing well at selling other things and have established relationships with their own contacts will, if your product fits in with their own business and they are happy with the commission structure you’re offering, be happy to push your product to audiences you would otherwise be unable to tap. It also gives you a chance to leverage other people’s skills. Many top affiliate marketers make their money by having a very good understanding of search engine optimization and bringing high volumes of traffic in to their websites. If your products are advertised on these high volume sites you are bound to convert some business (assuming the sites are relevant and your products are good). By paying commission to an affiliate rather than buying ad space to get your products marketed on sites like this, you are only paying on sales made, so it is a pretty safe way to promote yourself.
Before starting your affiliate marketing business, first you have to chose a topics or subject what you are actually want to promote. Suppose you have good knowledge on health and weight loss, so first choose a niche and a keyword like “best diet for weight loss”, “fat loss factors”, “natural ways to lose weight”, “lose weight without exercise”, “faster ways to lose weight”, “how to lose weight at home”, “how to become slim” etc. You will find a lot of keyword ideas on google keyword planner and also in google suggested search. In this way you can find your targeted niche and keywords. When you got your chosen niche and keywords, go to the next step to research various affiliate programs.
Another popular type of affiliation is a product (service)-based one. Here, companies offer the affiliates a specific product or service to promote. After the affiliate is done with the promotion, he or she can then keep the merchandise for himself. It’s usually a one-time thing, meaning that you (as an affiliate) need to promote the product only once.
888.com is a premium gaming destination and a well established name in the casino and poker circuit. Its site offers numerous sub-brands including 888sport, 888ladies, 888bingo, 888casino and 888poker, as well as ReefClub Casino. The 888 family of companies attract millions of players, and the company provides affiliates with frequent promotions to keep players interested.
The key to becoming a successful affiliate is conducting a bit of research before you sink time (and maybe money) into a campaign. Think what it would be like if you built a resort full of all of the trimmings: crisp white towels, Egyptian cotton sheets, 10 pools, a 5-star restaurant, and flawlessly beautiful architecture... But it's on the moon and there are no people, so you can't profit from your efforts.
Thanks for reading, Charmaine! I’m not sure about Hong Kong-specific affiliate programs, but what I would say is that most retailers do have an affiliate program in place, so if there’s a particular HK brand or company you use a lot, Google their name + affiliate program to see if they have one. Besides that, the ones I suggested are open to you regardless of where you’re from!
Generating sales and traffic to your store can seem like a time-consuming task for just one person. By utilizing affiliate marketing, you can relieve many of those headaches, and concentrate on other aspects of your business. Just think of the additional tasks you could have time for once your affiliates are drawing more traffic to your store and helping generate more sales than you ever thought possible!
Remember – don’t come off as the guy or gal that has spent the last month looking for ways how to start affiliate marketing and is now desperate for clicks. That will get you nowhere. Instead, be helpful – actually interact with people and try to help them when you can, and if you see a great opportunity to post your affiliate link – do it. Otherwise, you’ll just get banned for spamming.
Because 2Checkout exclusively sells software and digital products, it is best suited for established influencers whose target audience is interested in buying products in this niche. But while you won’t find any physical products for sale, 2Checkout is probably the market leader in selling software of every type, including very specific use case items (like software that can convert Microsoft Word documents to PDF, for instance).
Publish a book or report and make it a hit. Writing a book today is easier than ever before and thus the mantle of “published author”, while definitely a credibility boost, is not as big a deal as it once was. Creating a free report is even easier. However, if your publication becomes a hit, if it dominates the conversation in your market for a period of time, or redefines how people look at an issue, or is referred to as fundamental study, then you’ve gained a reputation that can last a lifetime.
Of course, you want to make sure you have a product that is valuable. If you find that there are issues with the product and customer service, as well as other dynamics, then it may be easier to find a different solution to the affiliate marketing you are working on. This will assist with the type of program you are building while allowing you to authentically add value to someone else’s life.
Conservative estimates state that 80% of your affiliate sales will be generated from only 20% of your affiliates, so it pays to to make your store a desirable partner for affiliates. These men and women will be brand ambassadors, and you want them to feel confident about what they’re selling, which in turn increases trust between your store and your customers.
Leadpages also offers an option for affiliates to send referrals to attend a Leadpages webinar with standard commissions paid for any sale generated from the webinar. However, Leadpages requires you to get at least 150 people to sign up (but not necessarily attend) each webinar. Leadpages also offers affiliates the ability to view blog posts and videos on Leadpages’s site, again with the standard commission paid for any sales.
It seems nowadays many bloggers are obsessed with this monetization stream, clamouring to find out how they, too, can make money off blogging through affiliate sales. This popularity has led to one very negative consequence: information overload, and not enough answers. After a few email exchanges, I realized some newbies were petrified of asking basic questions… in fear of sounding dumb.
With affiliate marketing, you don’t go through the roller coaster ride that comes with owning a business. There isn’t the need to innovate, stand by your product and go through the hurdles of a startup. You don’t need to know the mechanics, the processing, or even hire others to work with you. You take out all the extra, complex dynamics that tie you down with business.

So if you once ranked your niche site, they will automatically find your site and purchase according to their requirement. For doing SEO, you have done several works like relevant guest posting, authority link building, relevant blog comment posting, high pr article submission, high pr social sharing etc. You can hire a SEO freelancer for doing SEO for ranking your niche site.
Hi, Nice article. I am not sure about the process though. I can understand, finding a niche. But, when it comes to affiliate programs I get a little lost. Would I be promoting someone else's products? If so, no problem. I know I need to research high end products with gravity, are these products ones in certain stores, or companies, etc.?? If so, do I need to get permissions to be on an affiliate program with that company? Also, if it is products with a company, then how do I offer promotions on their products since they are not mine? Thank you, Nanette Vlahusich
Thank you for the insight, it did set straight some of the things that seem to be left out in the sales pitches from those selling their affiliate programs. I’ve been looking for a couple of weeks now, and while some of it is starting to sink in, one of the key factors appears to be the creation of an informative blog. It seems there are other ways to operate as an Affiliate Marketer that don’t require a blog or a website, but, it appears that content and traffic to it, are the preferred methods.
Once your audience has been identified, it is equally as important to speak to them in a way that is enticing, attractive and of course, makes them want to buy your service or product. While you are working hard to build your business and your brand, it is absolutely critical that your affiliate marketers are in line with your business approach. Be sure that they are advertising in the right places and using the right language.

While I was doing WordPress speed optimization I noticed lots of people needed it, but very few people supplied it (there were a lack of services and tutorials when I researched Google). I also knew hosting was the #1 factor of website speed factor and these companies paid up to $200/sale. Hosting is a competitive space but the commissions and lack of supply enticed me.
SEO for organic search: Search engine optimization (SEO) is a marketing tactic in its own right. Good SEO helps you craft post content targeting specific terms, called keywords, to rank high in the search results in Google and other search engines. This is something to understand and implement early to make the most of your content from day one. SEO is also why a narrow niche focus is best for most affiliate marketers. Targeting niche-specific keywords help you rank high in search results and be found by readers interested in your niche.
One of the most important things to practice as an affiliate marketer is what's known as "keyword research." Keywords, or the terms or phrases people type into Google, can be the best way of finding out what exactly what people are looking for. If you can find some popular phrases, and convince search engines like Google that your website has relevant information about them, you'll get the rankings you need to get people to your affiliate links.
Customers and workers are the first persons to believe in your product. They do not require as much convincing as strangers to market your product. It also gives them an opportunity to extend your relationship and make it more profitable. They trust you and are willing to go full throttle into marketing. They are also more patient with you. Take advantage of your networks to promote your program until it gets on its feet.
One thing you may encounter is the "invite only" affiliate program. Some sites restrict entry to their affiliate program to people who have already purchased their product, or they choose to approve affiliates on a case-by-case basis. Often this is to prevent affiliates from getting hefty discounts on their products by purchasing through their own affiliate links. If you contact the merchant directly and plead your case, they might let you in, but usually there's not much you can do aside from purchasing the product.
I’m very newbie in this field, even I haven’t my website/blog pages. Its takes some time to build my website. With this article, I get some knowledge how to start. But I have question that if I want to start this from the social media like Facebook. Then what we should do first. Should we make a page relevant to niche ? And is social media is correct way to start or we should first make our own website/ blog pages?
There are so many benefits to building an affiliate marketing business. Some of which include that it is low-risk, cost-effective, easy to track, and most importantly you don't actually have to create anything on your own. Rather, your job is only to create epic content that recommends products and services, based on your own experience. It's a win-win.
This is NOT a get-rich-quick strategy – In this guide, I will help you lay the foundation of your affiliate marketing business. You don’t need any programming skills and setting up your affiliate marketing blog really will be a pretty straightforward process. However, learning how to start an affiliate marketing blog is just the beginning. Truly earning money with an affiliate marketing blog takes time. This is true for any business though, isn’t it?
