There are other methods to tap into the top echelon of affiliate marketing circles, but these ideas should get you started. None of these techniques are quick fixes. If you want a reputation, credibility, respect and the networking advantages that lead to top affiliates taking notice of you, you need to work at it to demonstrate your worthiness for these benefits.
As we stated at the beginning of this guide, a website is a key part of most successful affiliate marketing businesses. Your website is the one affiliate marketing channel that gives you complete control of your message and brand. Most affiliate marketers use their website as the home base for their affiliate business. Then, other marketing channels, such as social media, email, YouTube videos and podcasts are essentially extensions of what is housed on your website.
Of course, Matt also has great strategies when it comes to turning the traffic into leads. You’ll notice that many of the areas of mastery that I focus on are related to giving quality content and continuing to interact with the community. After someone has opted in, it’s important to keep your audience warm and to find ways to move from an opt-in to working certain leads to the results that you want… a sale. That requires continuous maintenance with content and the approaches used with staying connected.
Banner and sidebar ads: Virtually every affiliate program provides a wide variety of ads that you can insert into the sidebars, header and footer sections of your WordPress website. Some of these affiliate ads promote a flat-fee product like the Amazon Prime free trial. Others automatically update with features products and items from your affiliate partner. Either way, if your reader clicks on one and makes a purchase, you get paid.
Next, tell them why they will make money by promoting your offer – give them your overall conversion rate, details of any affiliates you already have on board, and how successful they’ve been. Explain what is working especially well for you. Finally, close by giving them a call to action – tell them to either visit your affiliate page or e-mail you back for further information and a review copy of your product.
Leadpages also offers an option for affiliates to send referrals to attend a Leadpages webinar with standard commissions paid for any sale generated from the webinar. However, Leadpages requires you to get at least 150 people to sign up (but not necessarily attend) each webinar. Leadpages also offers affiliates the ability to view blog posts and videos on Leadpages’s site, again with the standard commission paid for any sales.
The main reason why you would want to sell through affiliates is that it gives you a route in to other people’s customers. People who are already doing well at selling other things and have established relationships with their own contacts will, if your product fits in with their own business and they are happy with the commission structure you’re offering, be happy to push your product to audiences you would otherwise be unable to tap. It also gives you a chance to leverage other people’s skills. Many top affiliate marketers make their money by having a very good understanding of search engine optimization and bringing high volumes of traffic in to their websites. If your products are advertised on these high volume sites you are bound to convert some business (assuming the sites are relevant and your products are good). By paying commission to an affiliate rather than buying ad space to get your products marketed on sites like this, you are only paying on sales made, so it is a pretty safe way to promote yourself.
If you are building a site that has the potential for information that will never age and remain useful for your audience, you have the opportunity to create what is known as evergreen content. It's important to carry out extensive keyword research before planning any evergreen content for a site like this, as your site could hugely benefit from the proper usage of keywords within such content.
Don’t go insane and join a million at once… think first about what would make sense for you to endorse. If you’re a travel blogger for instance, becoming an affiliate for hotels, tours and travel gear may be appropriate. Most companies will have an affiliate program, or be part of an affiliate network. Your best bet would be a quick Google: “company + affiliate program”.
Even though it’s commonplace that online influencers get contacted by companies that want to sponsor them, that doesn’t mean you can’t go on a whim and contact a company you like yourself. Sure, you might get a lot of negative answers at first, but when you’ll start to see and understand how the system works, the traffic will start to increase heavily.
By quite a large margin Amazon has the largest affiliate marketing program out there, with products from more than 1.5 million sellers. Amazon has the most easy-to-use technology of all the affiliate programs I will be reviewing today. Beginners to affiliate marketing with even the most limited technical expertise will have no problems in getting up and running with the Amazon associates program, while more experienced marketers can create custom tools and websites with the APIs and advanced implementations available to them. The great thing about Amazon is that anything from kids toys to laptops can generate sales if they are purchased through any Amazon affiliate link.
The downside is that Shopify is only appealing for people who have physical or digital products to sell and have a need to set up a Shopify store, including site hosting, payment processing, and all the other services offered by Shopify. This can significantly narrow the appeal for this affiliate program. But if you can distinguish yourself by educating people on how to use Shopify, how it can benefit their business, and/or make them money, you could potentially big money via the affiliate program. Add in the 2 x monthly fee commission rate, and landing just a few sales of their mid-tier and top-tier products can result in significant earnings.

With affiliate marketing, you don’t go through the roller coaster ride that comes with owning a business. There isn’t the need to innovate, stand by your product and go through the hurdles of a startup. You don’t need to know the mechanics, the processing, or even hire others to work with you. You take out all the extra, complex dynamics that tie you down with business.
This program has 12,000 offers and is continuing to grow. The program is known because it focuses on large brand names, but also has several niche products to choose from. This is great when it comes to strategic branding and finding products that others may not offer. It also assists with getting into different merchants that aren’t available with other methods, like ClickBank.
Once you completed the above steps all successfully, now time comes to promote your affiliate products and make money. Go to your affiliate marketplace and pick up some hot and popular product and insert on your website with banner, widget, text links etc. If your site is popular with targeted visitors, they will read content and purchase product and thus you will consistently earn money without doing work.
On one hand, long and ugly affiliate tracking links are a straight giveaway to people that you want to sell them a product (and people may be uncomfortable clicking on them). Therefore, making your link shorter and "nicer" looking will it give a more professional appearance. One of my favorite plugins for making links look "pretty" is the Pretty Links WordPress plugin.
Hi, Nice article. I am not sure about the process though. I can understand, finding a niche. But, when it comes to affiliate programs I get a little lost. Would I be promoting someone else's products? If so, no problem. I know I need to research high end products with gravity, are these products ones in certain stores, or companies, etc.?? If so, do I need to get permissions to be on an affiliate program with that company? Also, if it is products with a company, then how do I offer promotions on their products since they are not mine? Thank you, Nanette Vlahusich
Writing product reviews are an excellent way to enhance your credibility as an affiliate marketer. This is especially easy with information products like e-books which are relatively inexpensive. After establishing some steady income it may even be worth buying higher-end products, provided you get in touch with the product creator to work out a strategic marketing plan that takes you to the next level.
A super effective way to communicate those incentives is to create an article page on your store where you can share all of the important information pertaining to your affiliate program. Incentives for becoming an affiliate usually involve a percentage of sales that result from a customer purchasing from your store via a particular affiliate's link, but there are a number of other, perhaps less-obvious incentives. You can try enticing new affiliates by stressing the flexibility and entrepreneurial aspects of being an affiliate marketer!
This book provided an introduction to affiliate marketing, but is a very shallow overview. I am new to internet marketing and found that I had to Google things like CPA, and SEO because I was completely unfamiliar with these things. The author failed to define these abbreviations. I'm glad the Kindle version was cheap, or I would have been upset. I would suggest looking for a different source of information on this subject.
You’ll need about $40 – This $40 will be spent on a domain name and website hosting. Is it possible to start an affiliate marketing blog for free? Yes, technically it is. I won’t get into the details here, but I highly recommend you sign up for your own web hosting and domain name. The service I recommend will set you up with both of those things in one place. You also don’t need this money upfront. If you use this discount link it is only $2.99 per month, so after a full year of having your own domain name and web hosting, you’re actually looking at less than $40.
Grav = Gravity Gives an indication of how hot a product is at the moment. Products with high gravity have a lot of affiliates making money selling this product, while those with low gravity have comparatively less affiliates selling the product. Take this figure with a grain of salt, since it is open to manipulation, but in general you'll probably want to look at products that have a decent amount of affiliate activity, since that obviously means that people are making money from them.
